t i o e t t BJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to use igh-speed optical coherence tomography (OCT) o obtain cross-sectional images of the rat cochlea. TUDY DESIGN AND METHODS: The cochleae of pragueDawley rats were imaged within 2 to 4 ours after death. Specimens were prepared by emoving the bulla to expose the mesotympanum; ome images were obtained in intact temporal ones removed from the cranium. The central eleent of an OCT imaging device is a Michelson nterferometer combined with a low-coherence ight source.
